Top Ramen Spots in Chicago
The temperature has dropped and it’s finally soup season! Call me crazy but I honestly love ramen and crave it even in the summer. I’d like to present to you a list of my 5 top ramen spots in Chicago!
1) High Five Ramen
High Five Ramen is located in West Loop. It’s hidden in the basement of my fave BBQ spot Green Street Smoked Meats! It’s a tiny ramen spot that usually has a wait of 2-3 hours. Yes, I waited that long and it was worth it! The broth was so tasty and I envision this is the kind of ramen I would get in Japan. So legit! Due to COVID-19, they aren’t allowing indoor dining but takeout is a great option!
2) Ramen Wasabi
Ramen Wasabi is located in Logan Square. They offer a number of food options outside of ramen. I suggest the Pork Belly Buns to start. My go to order here is the Spicy Garlic Miso Ramen
3) Oiistar
Oiistar is located in Wicker Park. My go to order here is the Spicy Garlic Shoyumen ramen. Can you tell already I have a love affair with garlic?
4) Strings Ramen
Strings Ramen is Chicago’s first dedicated Ramen shop. Come to think of it, I believe this was the first spot I had a bowl of ramen in the city! The secret to their great ramen…their noodles are made fresh daily! It’s fittingly found in Chinatown. They now have multiple locations in Chicago and now in New York! My go to order is the Kuro Buta ramen.
5. Kizuki Ramen & Izakaya
Kizuki Ramen & Izakaya is located in Wicker Park and Lincoln Park. They also have locations in the Washington and Oregon. All of Kizuki ramen (except for veggie ramen) comes with a soft boiled egg aka tamago! My go to order is the Garlic Tonkotsu.
I’m sure you’re drooling by now. I hope you enjoyed reading about my favorite ramen spots in Chicago! Please share with me with thoughts when you visit on of them.
